About Us
Joy Flamenco is a premier flamenco dance school that first opened its doors in 2018. Situated in Brendale, North of Brisbane, it is a fully-equipped boutique dance studio that offers a broad range of classes beginning with those for children as young as 3 years, to young teens, adults beginners and more advanced students.
Head Teacher at Joy Flamenco, Miss Christine, has amassed well over 15 years expertise in the teaching of children and adults, of all ages. She enjoys bringing her lifelong passion and knowledge of her craft to all generations, ensuring that they too can learn the majesty and limitless joy of dance, doing so in an easy-to-follow style in a sedate and friendly atmosphere.

Miss Christine’s approach is holistic, integrating flamenco dance with enlivening music, so that all levels of students can enjoy, grow and appreciate the undeniable artform that is flamenco.

Classes
We offer the following classes:
Little Dancers
3-5 Years
This level is an introduction into the world of dance. A combined lesson of classical ballet and flamenco, focusing on the basic fundamentals of various styles and skills, while also working on the development of coordination, muscality, fine and gross motor skills and social interactions within a structured environment.
Pre Juniors
6-7 Years
Still having a combined lesson of classical ballet and flamenco, this level has more of a focus on technique, strengthening muscles and appreciating the aesthetic of good dance.
Juniors
8-9 Years
Like Pre Juniors, focus is now placed on technique, strengthening muscles and appreciating the aesthetic of good dance. We integrate more difficult footwork combinations and music time rhythms.
Primary Flamenco
10-12 Years
This class advances on from the junior stages. We include more choreography and technique for footwork , use of the body, use of arms, hands and head. The students will learn to clap and stamp to a variety of rhythms and time signatures. They will develop a higher understanding of musicality.
Adults Beginners
13 years and over
Beginner classes cover the basics of flamenco technique, as well as popular Spanish flamenco dance routines and specific choreographies, in a relaxed and fun environment.
Unlike many other spanish and latin dance styles, you don’t need a partner for flamenco.
